After being one of the biggest box office successes of the year for horror, Curry Barker’s Obsession is coming home. The film starring Michael Johnston and Inde Navarette is set to hit Peacock later this month, after earning over $400 million at the global box office, making it one of Focus Features’ highest grossing films ever.
Also starring Cooper Tomlinson and Andy Richter, Obsession became a massive viral hit when it premiered in theaters, making a massive amount on a budget of under $1 million. The film is now the eighth highest grossing movie of 2026, sweeping past massive titles on word of mouth alone. (Horror ain’t dead yet, kids!)
The film also earned four nominations at this year’s Chainsaw Awards, including Best Wide Release, Best Lead Performance, Best Screenplay, and Best Director. If you loved the film as much as we did, you can vote for it until July 15 to secure its spot in Fango history.
Obsession is Barker’s second feature film, after he made his feature debut with Milk & Serial in 2024, which was made for $800 and was released for free on YouTube. He’s also set to direct Anything But Ghosts, a new Blumhouse film about paranormal investigators that he’s directing, co-writing, and starring in, as well as a new installment in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise.
Obsession streams on Peacock beginning July 17.
