Fresh off of blowing up the 2026 box office, Obsession director Curry Barker has penciled in a release date for his highly-anticipated next feature, Anything But Ghosts.
Focus Features and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster announced today that Anything But Ghosts, which stars Barker himself and co-writer Cooper Tomlinson, will officially release in theaters on May 7, 2027, with Universal Pictures International handling international distribution for the studio.
In Anything But Ghosts, Tomlinson and Barker play wannabe “ghosthunters” who find themselves in over their heads as things spiral wildly and terrifyingly out of control.
Also starring are Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World), Violet McGraw (M3GAN), and Chris Reinacher (The Mindy Project).
Horror tycoons Jason Blum, Roy Lee (Resident Evil) and Steven Schneider (Hokum) produce for Blumhouse and Spooky Pictures respectively, as well as Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath (Divide/Conquer), in association with Image Nation and That’s a Bad Idea. Barker and Tomlinson executive produce, alongside Daniel Bekerman and Image Nation’s Ben Ross.
Barker's FANGORIA Chainsaw Award-nominated Obsession became the unexpected horror hit of the year, grossing a gargantuan $505 million at the global box office off a sub-$1 million budget, and officially standing as one of the highest-grossing horror movies ever made.
Breakout star Inde Navarette has set a campaign for a Best Actress Academy Award, as part of a huge awards season push from Focus Features.
Following Anything But Ghosts, Barker has his eye on some classic horror IP with a reimagining of Tobe Hooper's seminal The Texas Chain Saw Massacre at A24.
