André Øvredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, The Last Voyage of the Demeter) is set to direct an as-of-now untitled horror picture for Paramount Pictures, with former Warner Bros. production executive Walter Hamada producing via his production company 18hz.

Reporting the news late yesterday, Deadline also revealed that Zachary Donohue (The Den) and digital horror artist T.W. Burgess penned the script for the new project. Plot details and logline are still under wraps.

Hamada's part in production comes as part of his first-look deal with Paramount, alongside It screenwriter and Salem's Lot director Gary Dauberman via Coin Operated.

The untitled horror pic will be Øvredal's first since last year's The Last Voyage of the Demeter, which starred David Dastmalchian, Corey Hawkins and Aisling Franciosi as passengers upon the doomed Dracula-escorting vessel. His early movies, the found-footage fantasy Trollhunter and The Autopsy of Jane Doe (starring Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch) have both garnered huge cult fanbases.

As executive producer, Hamada has worked on huge horror movies such as The Conjuring and It, the latter of which famously became the third-highest-grossing R-rated film at the time of its release.

Needless to say, it looks like Paramount has put together a dream team for a horror smash hit, and we shall be patiently awaiting further updates as they roll in.
