When it seems like everythingโ€™s been taken over by vampires lately, Level 33 Entertainment is out to prove that the zombie movie isnโ€™t (un)dead yet. Theyโ€™ve just released the first trailer for Didnโ€™t Die, a new horror comedy set in the middle of an apocalypse with the most unlikely of protagonists: a podcaster.ย

Didnโ€™t Die stars Kiran Deol as a podcast host struggling to keep her show going in the midst of an ongoing zombie apocalypse. Directed by Meera Menon, the film also stars George Basil, Samrat Chakrabarti, Katie McCuen, Vishal Vijayakumar, Ali Lopez-Sohaili and Kandis Erickson.

โ€œIโ€™m drawn to the question of what still makes life worth living when everything else has come undone,โ€ Menon said of the film. โ€œBeing an indie filmmaker right now feels like podcasting in the middle of a zombie apocalypseโ€”this film is about the grit it takes to simply keep going.โ€

Didnโ€™t Die originally premiered as part of last yearโ€™s Sundance Film Festival in their Midnights category. The film is produced by Erica Fishman, Joe Camerota, and cinematographer Paul Gleason, with a score from Samuel Jones.ย

โ€œAs a performer, itโ€™s such a privilege to get to play an arc โ€” especially one grounded in wry humor,โ€ Deol says. โ€œShowcasing a South Asian family meant lots of dosas on set โ€” which is a delicious way to make something revolutionary. From the collaborative style of developing the story, to staying in a house with the actors in upstate New York, Meera created an experience that felt like family coming together.โ€

Didnโ€™t Die is a witty and poignant take on the classic zombie film, crafted by a group of truly remarkable filmmakers,โ€ added Level 33โ€™s Andreas Olavarria. โ€œWe canโ€™t wait to share this film with audiences across North America.โ€

Didnโ€™t Die hits theaters on March 6.
