Clive Barker might be best known for his work on the Hellraiser series, including the novella that inspired it, but that doesn’t mean he’s done writing. Today, the legendary horror author announced Library of the Dead, a new three-book anthology series featuring Barker’s return to short fiction and touted as the “spiritual successor to Books of Blood.”

The Library of the Dead series features three books: Fear Eternal, Pyres of Bedlam, and Dark Descents, all published as a partnership between Ensata Press and Clive Barker Ink, the author’s creative imprint. Edited by Phil and Sarah Stokes, the books collect both brand new stories and out of print ones, featuring black and white illustrations and poetry created by Barker himself.

“I'm profoundly excited by all that Library of the Dead offers, and the freedom that I now have to present it to you with Kickstarter,” explained Clive Barker. “It's going to be a blast for us all, my friends!”

But those books aren’t all that Barker has in store. Ensata and Clive Barker Ink are also releasing a new remastered edition of Books of Blood, a two-volume leatherbound omnibus featuring iconic stories like “Rawhead Rex” and “The Midnight Meat Train,” as well as all new illustrations. Limited edition collectibles will also be available, like the Art of Clive Barker Portfolio, a collection of fine art prints based on his work, and the Library of the Dead book coffin, an ornate stone bookcase designed to hold all three books in the series.

Library of the Dead has not set a release date. Stay tuned to FANGORIA for more updates.
