There’s a changing of the guard happening at Fango, and we’re excited to share the news with you.

For over five years, Angel Melanson has been FANGORIA’s Digital Editor, a woefully insufficient description of all that she brought to the brand. Yes, she’s the editor of the website, but she’s also been our West Coast boots on the ground, Fango’s front-facing vanguard, and a brand ambassador for us in whatever space she happened to be. I knew the second I met her that I wanted her to be part of what we do, and in 2021 I jumped at the chance, as did she. In that time there’s been a non-stop stream of praise for Angel from industry folks both in front of and behind the camera. People love Angel, and we here at FANGORIA have weaponized that love. I regret nothing.

But when someone this magical comes into one’s professional orbit, you know in your heart it’s only a matter of time before someone else sees what they’re capable of, and offers them an opportunity they can’t decline. It’s the way these things should go, and though it hurts to say goodbye to Angel it’s, I truly believe, correct and right and Good that Angel seize this opportunity.

What that new opportunity is will be Angel’s news to share, and in good time she will. For now, I hope you’ll join me in congratulating her and wishing her the best of luck on what’s to come. We love you, bud. Over to you:

Now, don’t fret; there’s some good news to go with this loss. It’s my absolute pleasure to tell you that joining us as Fango dot com’s Managing Editor is the esteemed BJ Colangelo. BJ’s time with Fango predates even my own (her first byline was in 2013), and the writing she’s done for the magazine under my tenure has been some of my favorite that I’ve published. Beyond our ghastly gates, BJ has established herself as a talent on camera, a DELIGHT at press events, an author of some renown, and a formidable editor of others’ writing. Every single person at Fango HQ is giddy about BJ joining us full-time, in a role she was basically grown in a lab to fill.

There will be more about all this to come, including some words from Angel regarding her new venture, but for now please join us as we celebrate this bittersweet moment, and the beginning of a new chapter for Angel, for BJ, and for all of us on both sides of this screen.
