Ahead of Part 1 of the fifth and final season of Stranger Things debuting on November 26 and yesterday's tease of the brand new animated spin-off, Netflix has previewed the first five minutes of the first episode, titled ‘The Crawl'.
The final showdown of the Duffer Brothers' sci-fi horror hit series sees the next three episodes releasing on Netflix on Christmas Day, and the series finale premiering on December 31 in theaters too for the first time ever.
Returning for the last Hawkins hurrah are stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Sadie Sink, Maya Hawke, Jamie Campbell Bower and more, with a cameo appearance from ‘80s icon Linda Hamilton. The season synopsis reads as follows:
The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.
The preview of ‘The Crawl' takes things back to the start, to 1983, when a young Will Byers (Schnapp) first disappeared into the horrific parallel nightmare world we came to know as the Upside Down. As it turns out, big bad Vecna (Campbell Bower), who first made himself known in the fourth season of the record-breaking show, has been tormenting Will since the beginning.
