It is a surprise-filled list with returning favorites and new films in the top horror movies on streaming this week. Most of this week's films either haven't been seen in the top ten for months and are back with a vengeance, or have never graced the list before. There is a trend of films that have been added to Disney+ and Hulu, and while you might not expect horror on Disney+, there's no denying that Disney+ has picked some scary movies for May 2026.

Among the new films on the list are Dolly and Whistle, which are streaming on Shudder. Neither film has appeared on the list before, and Dolly was added on April 24, and Whistle came to the horror-centric streaming service on May 8.

Another breakout is The Barn II, the unrated slasher, which is streaming on Screambox and is filled with horror legends you will recognize. Starz has Rosariowhich is another hit with home viewers for this week. If you're used to a lot of the same films on this list, this is the week where everything turns upside down, but in a good way.

The whistle, which is inscribed with the words, “summon your death,” does seem a little dangerous to be honest. As they say, curiosity kills the cat, and soon the friends find out exactly what the price of curiosity is.

One of the most heartbreaking horror films of 2025 has returned to the top ten after it was last seen in January of this year. The film was directed by Danny and Michael Philippou, in their second feature film after the terrifying hit Talk to Me. Bring Her Back was a left turn for the twin brothers, who went with a more contemplative film that was no less scary, gruesome, or emotionally affecting.

Billy Barratt, Sora Wong, Jonah Wren Phillips, and Sally Hawkins, in an amazing star turn, in a great ensemble cast, star in the film. Sora Wong had never acted before, and she auditioned for the role of Piper after her mother found the casting call on Facebook. See, sometimes Facebook does good things.

Director Stuart Ortiz's latest film, Strange Harvest, is another film that has returned to the list after a long absence. We've not seen this mockumentary terror tale, set in the Inland Empire, since early January. The film was well-regarded for the authenticity of the characters and the setting, and Strange Harvest was shot in Los Angeles. The lead actors, Peter Zizzo and Terri Apple, were very convincing as San Bernardino County police officers.

Police detectives Joe Kirby and Lexi Taylor are on the trail of a masked serial killer named Mr. Shiny, who has claimed his victims over thirty years. While many of the murders are seemingly unconnected, Kirby and Taylor notice an occult symbol that the killer leaves behind and search for Mr. Shiny as they fear a more sinister plot may be in the works.

Strange Harvest is now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
