After a quarter century as a cult classic monster movie, Ginger Snaps is getting an upgrade. Lionsgate is releasing the coming of age werewolf film on 4K for the first time this week, reinvigorating the beloved film with a special remaster as a part of their Vestron Video collectors’ series.

The new 4K release, which retails for $40 USD, features new artwork by Chelsea Lowe, and a host of new special features, including audio commentaries with director John Fawcett and writer Karen Walton, audition and rehearsal tapes, deleted scenes, TV spots, theatrical trailer, and multiple behind the scenes featurettes, including a making of for the film’s creatures.

Originally released in 2000, the cult classic film stars Katherine Isabelle and Emily Perkins, alongside Kris Lemche, Mimi Rogers, and more. The film’s synopsis, for those who haven’t seen it, is as follows:

Ginger Snaps is the story of death-fixated teenage sisters Ginger and Brigitte, who are attacked one night by a creature drawn to Ginger’s first menstrual period. Bitten by the creature, Ginger soon exhibits sudden aggression and bizarre transformations that convince Brigitte her sister is turning into a werewolf…and that Ginger’s embrace of her liberating new condition may be terminal.

Ginger Snaps is the latest horror film to join Lionsgate’s Vestron Video collection, named after the pioneering \home video company they acquired in 2003. In fact, Chopping Mall was the inaugural release for the line, which now also includes films like The Lair of the White Worm, Warlock, Beyond Re-Animator, The Dentist, and more.

Ginger Snaps is available now on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and Digital.
