If you miss going to the video store and renting a bunch of horror movies to binge over the weekend, Epic Pictures’ newest film coming from their Dread label is perfect for you. FANGORIA is excited to reveal the trailer and release date for The Boy From Below, which arrives this August.
Directed by Tory Jones from a script he wrote with Jerron Spencer and Cheyenne Gordon, The Boy From Below stars Dee Wallace, Felissa Rose, Tommy Lee Wallace, Jack Norman, Spooky Madison, and Chaney Morrow. The film’s synopsis is as follows:
It’s Halloween 1997 in the small town of Carpenter Falls, where video store clerk Quinn Curtis is preparing for a night of horror marathons and local festivities. But when a figure from the town’s dark past resurfaces in the form of a masked killer known as the Boy from Below, the night takes a deadly turn. Obsessed with horror movies, the killer begins recreating his own twisted version of classic slasher scenarios, targeting Quinn and her friends. As the body count rises, Quinn must rely on her deep knowledge of the genre to outthink a relentless predator and survive the night.
“The Boy from Below is inspired and pays homage to the mid 90's and the era of the video store that I grew up enamored with, that informed my love for film and storytelling,” says Jones. “I consumed so many of the genre classics and especially slasher films, so to be able to create my own and to work with so many of those genre legends that I grew up idolizing is still so surreal.
“This is in many ways a love letter to those movies and to be able to partner with DREAD and Epic Pictures is, I feel, a perfect fit for The Boy from Below. Hopefully people dig the foundation we lay in this film and want to see more.”
The Boy From Below won Best Feature Film and Best Kill Scene at Scarefest Weekend in 2025, as well as being a selection at Days of the Dead Film Festival 2026, Crimson Screen Horror Film Fest 2026, and New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival 2026. The film is produced by Jason Goldberg.
