It's been a while since we saw Parker Posey in a horror movie, but the Scream 3, Beau is Afraid and White Lotus star is making her return to the genre with Sleepover, an upcoming pic from Blumhouse-Atomic Monster and Universal Pictures.
Directed by Jacob Chase (Come Play, Insidious: Out of the Further) from a script co-written with Bryce McGuire (Night Swim), Sleepover is set to hit theaters on October 8, 2027.
Per Variety, who reported the story exclusively earlier today, further casting details for Sleepover remain under wraps, as does plot. Previously, The Hollywood Reporter teased that the pic, which is based on an original short story by McGuire, as a “quintessential sleepover nightmare”. We're thinking maybe a slasher/killer clown statue/boogey monster under the bed type situation, but don't quote us.
Genre giant Jason Blum produces Sleepover, with Chase, McGuire and Bea Sequeira on board as executive producers, with Lilly Tyson overseeing the project.
As mentioned, it's been a little bit since we saw Posey front and center in our favorite genre, but it certainly won't be her first foray into the world of blood and guts. She famously played fan favorite Jennifer Jolie in Wes Craven's Scream 3, as well as the vampy Danica in Blade: Trinity. Attendees at this year's Fantastic Fest may have also caught her in the new restoration of Todd Verow's gritty gay serial killer thriller Frisk from 1991.
Sleepover joins another banner year for Blumhouse-Atomic Monster in 2027, with the horror house also having Curry Barker's Obsession follow up Anything But Ghosts, Mike Flanagan's The Exorcist: Martyrs, Josh Giuliano's River, Ian Tuason's Paranormal Activity, and Nicholas Curcio's Play House on the slate.
Look out for more on Sleepover as we get it.
