With Wes Craven’s meta classic Scream celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Varèse Sarabande and Craft Recordings are reissuing the film’s landmark score for record collectors everywhere. The fourteen track album is coming to vinyl next month, in a new collectible edition that’s a must for every horror movie fan.
The single LP record comes in a collectible “blood-soaked” sleeve featuring the film’s iconic poster, with tracks like “Trouble in Woodsboro” and “The Cue From Hell” bringing back memories of the first time you saw Neve Campbell’s final girl kick ass against Ghostface.
The record will be available in eight different color variants, all available at different retailers. The standard pressing is a bright red “Woodsboro Bloodbath” LP, with the following variants also available for purchase: “Knife’s Edge” silver (Target), “Surprise, Sidney” metallic gold (Barnes & Noble), “Don’t Hang Up” clear (Books-a-Million), “I’ll Be Right Back” blue marble (Urban Outfitters), “Final Girl” blood splatter on silver (Hot Topic), “Wrong Answer” blood splatter on pink (Varèse Sarabande), and “Final Phone Call” blue (indie retailers).
For the discerning horror fan who also has way too many records for their own good, Varèse Sarabande has also released plenty of other horror film scores on vinyl. Their collection also includes the soundtracks to Lost, Blade and Blade II, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, and April’s Fools’ Day, among many others.
Scream continues as a long-running franchise thirty years after the release of the original, starring Campbell, Courteney Cox, Drew Barrymore, David Arquette, Matthew Lillard, and Skeet Ulrich. Scream 7 hit theaters earlier this year, with an eighth film currently in development, written by Lilla and Nora Zuckerman.
The new Scream soundtrack vinyl hits shelves on August 28, and is available for pre-order now.
