If you can believe it, the Resident Evil franchise is already thirty years old โ yes, I know, I feel old too โ and CAPCOM has decided theyโre going to go all out to celebrate. Ahead of Resident Evil Requiem hitting gaming platforms on February 27, the video game company is partnering with Alamo Drafthouse to host Raccoon City Cinema, a new screening series inspired by the franchiseโs most enduring themes.ย
The series beginning February 6 will be free for audiences with the purchase of a food and beverage voucher, centering on three themes of the Resident Evil franchise: containment failures, creeping paranoia, and the consequences of experiments that should never have left the lab. These themes are reflected in four films handpicked for the series: The Thing, The Ring, Longlegs, and The Cabin in the Woods.ย
And, since the screenings are free with the purchase of a concessions voucher, of course Alamo Drafthouse has come up with a special menu inspired by the games, served exclusively during the Raccoon City Cinema series. Items include Jillโs Sandwich, a double hamburger featuring applewood smoked bacon, cheese, and pickles; Bingo! Fried Chicken, inspired by Leon S. Kennedy and featuring wings tossed in a special spice blend with hot honey and cilantro; and the Red and Green Herb Hot Dog Combo, featuring two dogs topped with green herb chimichurri, red chorizo, and sliced avocado.ย

The special menu also features two unique cocktails: the Blue Umbrella Serum, with Titoโs Vodka, Blue Curaรงao, Sea Blue Red Bull, lemon, orange, cherry, and mint, and the T-Virus Cocktail, an intoxicating blend of Hendrickโs Gin, blackberry, tonic, and lime.ย
Along with Resident Evil Requiem being available to play in just a month, we also have plenty of other reasons to celebrate the franchise, whether youโre near a Drafthouse location or not. A new film in the franchise is being written and directed by Weapons helmer Zach Cregger, with Austin Abrams set to star in a brand new story outside the scope of the games and previous films. While we donโt have a set release date (or even a name) for that film yet, itโs all the more reason to celebrate.ย
