The highly-anticipated second season of Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson’s grisly, darkly hilarious, and sometimes-spooky Yellowjackets landed on Showtime over the weekend, and – according to a new report over at Variety – that premiere has already broken a few records.

Says Variety:

“‘Yellowjackets‘ has broken a new record with its Season 2 opener. Following its March 26 premiere, the series became Showtime’s most-streamed debut ever, hitting nearly 2 million viewers across platforms according to figures from Nielsen, comScore, and Showtime’s internal streaming data.”

But that’s not all! Showtime says the episode delivered “the best Season 2 premiere for the network in more than 10 years and nearly double the series premiere audience.” If Showtime hadn’t already greenlit a third season for Yellowjackets, well, this would probably be the moment where they’d go ahead and get that out of the way.

We’ll be recapping Yellowjackets S2 all season long (check out the first installment here, but only once you’ve watched the premiere! It’s spoilery!), and can’t wait to find out where this year’s batch of episodes takes us. One never truly knows what to expect in the world of Yellowjackets, and there’s plenty to explore following the events of S1.

Stay tuned for more on Yellowjackets S2 as further updates become available.
