Hello, uglies! The deadliest drag competition on television is finally back. Shudder has announced the release date for Season 7 of The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula, the celebrated reality competition series showcasing underground and alternate drag art, and it’s returning sooner than you might think.
Celebrating its 10th year, the four-time Emmy-nominated series is marking the milestone in style this October. Paying homage to VHS horror of the ‘80s and ‘90s, Season 7 will feature “the craziest elimination challenges in 10 years,” Shudder says. Competitors have yet to be announced, but with an anniversary celebration on the line, they’re sure to be fierce.
“10 years ago, we opened the gates to our world without a roadmap, a television network, or any idea of how far this strange underground experiment would take us. Today, Dragula has become an internationally recognized and Emmy-nominated franchise, but its heartbeat remains the same: fearless artists, disruptive ideas and a refusal to play it safe,” said the Boulet Brothers.
“For season 7, we wanted to celebrate everything that has always made Dragula dangerous and different while pushing the series into its next era. We cast raw, hungry artists who were completely unprepared for what was waiting for them, creating a season that feels unpredictable, cinematic, and alive in a way that takes us back to the beginning.”
The guest judge list for this season is as bold as ever. Among the names making an appearance in Season 7 are Doug Jones, David Dastmalchian, Lloyd Kaufman, Yvie Oddly, Lauren LaVera, and previous winners Landon Cider, Dahli, and Asia Consent.
“Over the last decade, The Boulet Brothers' Dragula has grown into a genre-defining franchise and a cornerstone of Shudder's programming,” said Shudder’s Nick Lazo. “We are honored to have been part of that journey with the Boulet Brothers, who have become influential voices in modern horror, and look forward to bringing fans another unforgettable and jaw-dropping season just in time for Halloween.”
The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula Season 7 premieres on October 27.
