The Resident Evil franchise has had its ups and downs, sure, but after a selection of highly successful remakes and the ninth mainline game Resident Evil Requiem now racking up rave reviews, long time fans and newcomers alike are basking in aย Resi renaissance. The survival horror gaming series' longevity is down in no small part to its iconic cast of characters, from the boulder-punching Chris Redfield to sultry spy Ada Wong. But few Resident Evil characters are quite as beloved as Leon S. Kennedy, the rookie cop turned hardened agent turned ‘hot uncle‘ who first made his appearance in 1998's Resident Evil 2.
Leon's return to Resident Evil Requiem, set 30 years after a missile strike destroys Raccoon City, was confirmed late last year, as was the return of Nick Apostolides, who voices and provides motion capture for Leon in Resident Evil 2 Remake (2019), Resident Evil 4 Remake (2023), Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness (2021) and now Requiem. Ahead of the release of Resident Evil Requiem, now available for Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, we sat down with Apostolides to talk Leon lore, his favorite one-liner, and which survival horror game he'd love to star in next (and don't worry if you haven't finished Requiemย yet – this chat is totally spoiler free.)
