If the box office busters Backrooms and Obsession didn't convince you that the kids are, in fact, alright, the new trailer for It Ends, the buzzy new horror from Gen Z filmmaker Alexander Ullom, will do the trick. Get involved:
Written and directed by Ullom, It Ends hits theaters on August 21, and stars Akira Jackson, Phinehas Yoon, Mitchell Cole, and Noah Toth as four college kids caught in a road trip nightmare. A full synopsis reads as follows:
Four recent college grads on a night time drive find themselves stuck on a road that sprawls on forever, with seemingly no end in sight. They are occasionally attacked by stragglers and have to find a routine to plan their rest stops, but after a few thousand miles it all feels the same. Still, they keep on driving, only in the belief something better will come eventually.
Following its premiere at SXSW last year, It Ends was a hit on the festival scene with screenings at Fantasia, Overlook, Telluride Horror Show, the UK's Celluloid Screams, and more. The existential horror was also one of the inaugural titles to be added to Letterboxd's Video Store back in December.
It Ends joins a stacked summer lineup for NEON, whose list of recent genre titles includes the queer horror Leviticus hitting theaters, and Nicholas Winding Refn’s upcoming genre-bender Her Private Hell, starring Sophie Thatcher.
