Apple TV+ has unveiled the thunderous new trailer for kaiju series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, revealing a mysterious new threat set to wreak havoc on Skull Island.
Returning for Season 2 of Monarch are Wyatt Russell (who is also set to lead the upcoming Legacy of Monsters spin-off), Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Joe Tippett and Anders Holm, with Prey star Amber Midthunder also joining the ensemble this time around. An official synopsis reads as follows:
“Season two will pick up with the fate of Monarch — and the world — hanging in the balance. The dramatic saga reveals buried secrets that reunite our heroes (and villains) on Kong’s Skull Island, and a new, mysterious village where a mythical Titan rises from the sea. The ripple effects of the past make waves in the present day, blurring the bonds between family, friend and foe — all with the threat of a titan event on the horizon.”
Takehiro Hira, Curtiss Cook, Cliff Curtis, Dominique Tipper and Camilo Jiménez Varón also join the second season.
As mentioned, alongside Kong and Godzilla, today's new trailer debuts a mysterious new kaiju known as “Titan X”, which is described as a “living cataclysm”:
When its massive bioluminescent form breaks the surface of the ocean, the world seems to hold its breath.
An official press release teases that Titan X stands at the center of the mystery — an ancient force emerging from the deep, its purpose uncertain, its power unmatched, its awe and terror in equal measure. Sounds intriguing!
Elsewhere, the MonsterVerse continues to thrive. Following the success of last year’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Warner Bros. and Legendary are in production on a follow-up entitled Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, which is due to hit theaters in March 2027.
Over on the Japanese side of things, there's also Takashi Yamazaki's Godzilla Minus One sequel Godzilla Minus Zero officially has an American release date, while over in Europe, Toho just set up shop with a new HQ in London, meaning more Godzilla goodness for fans in the UK and EU. All in all it's a great time to be a kaiju fan (but when is it not?!)
