Fans will soon be able to enjoy his seminal work, Joe Bob Goes to the Drive-In, brought to life as only he can. Dark Horse re-released the book last year but now, Briggs has decided to lend his voice to what’s on the page, to bring it to life in an all new way. We even have some exclusive images of Briggs doing his thing in the studio for you to check out below.

The forthcoming Audiobook, which arrives in December, delivers the complete, unabridged version of the expanded 2025 Dark Horse edition. Listeners will be transported back to where it all began, featuring Joe Bob’s original, groundbreaking columns written for the Dallas Times-Herald, his classic film reviews, and the fan mail correspondence—complete with his unfiltered, original replies. Briggs had this to say about it:
“People have been asking me to read my own book for decades, mainly because many of them can’t read. Now you can hear every high-body-count review, every drive-in total, and every crazy fan letter exactly the way it was meant to be experienced.”
Audiobook pre-sales will open exclusively on the official Joe Bob Briggs website at JoeBobBriggs.com on October 5, 2026. Fans who take advantage of the pre-release window can secure their copy for $25.99 before the price returns to the standard $29.95. The digital delivery date is set for December 15, 2026.

Even though The Last Drive-In is over, Briggs and Darcy the Mail Girl are already working on a new show for 2027. Though details are somewhat scarce, we do know a bit about what he’s got up his sleeve.
