With one film under their belt, NKY Films and Mediatrix Films are trying gamely to complete their challenge of “two films in one calendar year,” and FANGORIA is excited to offer a sneak preview of the second. We’ve got all the details on Run!, a new slasher satire featuring The House by the Cemetery’s Giovanni Frezza, who returns to the silver screen for the first time in forty years to star in the film.

Alongside Frezza, Run! will also feature appearances from wrestlers Sean Stewart, Marti Belle, Larkan Danielle, and Aaron Williams, as well as Saturday Night Live alum Gary Kroeger, who also serves as executive producer. Directed by Ricky Glore, the film’s synopsis is as follows:

The film follows “Run,” the “first-ever masked slasher,” through the eras of his career—from the gritty 70s homestead killings to the neon-soaked, merchandising-heavy 80s, and into the quippy, self-aware 90s. Follow the life of a pioneering masked slasher who has become a relic of the past. As the style of “horror” shifts in pop culture, Run decides that you might not be able to “teach an old dog new tricks,” but that there might be “more than one way to skin a cat!” Hopefully metaphorically…

Run! also dips its toes into meta territory, featuring slashers from some of NKY Films’ other horror films, like Sweet Meats’ Butcher, The Patient from All Your Friends Are Dead, and the viral Knitted Son.

Frezza’s last role on film was in 1985’s Demons, though his work as a child actor also saw him work with filmmakers like Lamberto Bava, Dario Argento, and Enzo G. Castellari, making him one of the most recognizable faces in Italian cinema in the ‘80s. Of course, he’s best known as the precocious Bob Boyle from Lucio Fulci’s 1981 film The House By the Cemetery, but few knew what happened to him after he deliberately stepped away from acting at the age of thirteen.

Frezza never regretted his choice to leave screen acting behind, instead graduating with a degree in physics that eventually led to an international career working in technology. But he’s also remained connected with the fan base surrounding his childhood work, and returns now to the screen in an undisclosed role for a meta look at how the fandom around slashers has evolved through the years, bringing with him a perspective shaped by decades of life experience beyond the film industry.

Run! will begin production this September, to be released sometime in late 2027 or early 2028. Check out the film’s original poster art, designed by Marc Schoenbach, below:
