After a successful run on the festival circuit, the Canadian horror film Fresh Meat has found a distributor. The Horror Collective announced that they’ve picked up worldwide rights to the film directed by Daniel Turres, with international sales launching at this year’s Cannes Film Market.

Directed by Turres from his own script, Fresh Meat stars Joelle Farrow, Mika Amonsen, Tyson Wong, and Hannah Galway as a group of internet influencers creating content inside an abandoned prison. But things take a turn for the worse when they accidentally unleash an abandoned and ravenous inmate, trapping them inside to fight for survival while they film the entire ordeal.

Fresh Meat taps into our current obsession with content creation and asks what happens when the pursuit of viral fame becomes a matter of life and death,” says Turres. “The abandoned prison setting creates this claustrophobic nightmare where escape feels impossible.”

Produced by Christian Turres, Sheila Warren, and David Carruthers, Fresh Meat joins a long slate of films released by The Horror Collective ranging across subgenres. They’re perhaps best known for the cult film Slaxx, about a pair of killer pants, as well as the The Death of Snow White, as well as numerous others available on their streaming service, BloodStream.

Fresh Meat fits perfectly with The Horror Collective's mission to bring fresh voices in horror to audiences worldwide,” says David Josh Lawrence, a member of acquisitions for Studio Dome, who will be handling sales at Cannes. “Daniel has crafted a film that speaks to our social media age while delivering the scares genre fans expect.”
