Post-apocalyptic horror stories are more popular than ever, and we’ve got an exclusive sneak peek at one that our readers will love. FANGORIA is excited to debut the teaser for Ashwire, an all-new survival horror film featuring beloved horror alums, echoing iconic stories like The Last of Us with an intriguing new twist.

Written and directed by Walter Sickert, Ashwire stars Ronnie Rodriguez, Stefania LaVie Owen, Hellraiser star Doug Bradley, and drag performer Throb Zombie. The film’s synopsis is as follows:

In the outskirts of a hollowed-out city drowning in the sound that controls it, Zara, a self-exiled musician, builds machines to quiet her unraveling mind. But when the shadow that tore her family apart reaches from the dark, her search for the truth behind her father’s disappearance drags her into a nightmare where the city’s shadows hold more than the trauma she buried.

Produced by Wireforest Productions and featuring casting by Julia Lauren, Ashwire serves as Sickert’s directorial debut, after making a name for himself helming shorts like Dear Moon and music videos for his group Walter Sickert & The Army of Broken Toys, the latest of which also features Throb Zombie.

Ashwire also serves as Zombie’s feature film debut, after becoming a beloved drag staple on Season 5 of The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula, as well as appearing on the 2024 Chainsaw Awards as a presenter. They’re also set to feature in the upcoming documentary Kings and Things, focusing on the history of drag kings and non-binary drag performers.

Ashwire has not announced a release date. Stay tuned to FANGORIA for more updates.
