The sixth entry into the Insidious franchise, originally set for an August 2025 release, has been pushed back until next year.
The as-of-now untitled Insidious 6 will officially release via Sony on August 21, 2026.
Upcoming Insidious spin-off, Thread: An Insidious Tale starring Kumail Nanjiani and Mandy Moore, has no release date set as of now, but thankfully seems unaffected.
Not much is known about the upcoming Insidious. Previously, Insidious writer Leigh Whannell told ComicBook.com that he thinks the Lambert family, headed by stars Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne, who were the focus of the first five movies have “run their course”:
The last entry into the series, 2023's Insidious: The Red Door, wrapped up the Lambert's story pretty concisely (well, as much as allows in the world of horror), so it's entirely possible that Insidious 6 could center on an entirely new cast of characters.
Following the first film in 2011 from James Wan, the Insidious franchise has been a huge horror hit, grossing over $731 million at the worldwide box office, so it was really no question of whether Insidious 6 would happen or not, just when.
Stay tuned for more updates on Insidious 6 as we get them.
