Summer might be over but the campfire is still burning, as the legendary Midnight Mass podcast is bringing the cult classic Sleepaway Camp back on tour following last year's spree of sold-out showings.
Co-hosts Peaches Christ and Michael Varrati will once again be joined by scream queen and Sleepaway Camp star Felissa Rose to celebrate the strange, hilarious, queer, shocking, and enduring legacy of Robert Hiltzik’s 1983 slasher.
Part live show, part movie screening, and part gloriously unhinged summer camp reunion, Sleepaway Camp: The Midnight Mass Experience will be embarking on a 14-stop tour (so far – additional dates to be announced!) across the United States and Canada early next year.
Each night begins with an opening performance from Peaches herself, followed by an approximately 60-minute live show, featuring stories from behind the scenes, audience interaction, surprises, and lashings of camp, before settling in for a screening of Sleepaway Camp.
Audiences are of course encouraged to come dressed to impress for the ’80s Camp Costume Contest, so get cropping those tops, January be damned. VIP ticket holders will also be able to join Rose, Christ, and Varrati for photo ops and autographs.
Here's what Ms. Christ has to say about bringing Sleepaway Camp: The Midnight Mass Experience back for another year:
“Sleepaway Camp is exactly the kind of movie Midnight Mass was created to celebrate […] It’s weird, queer, transgressive, endlessly quotable, and completely unforgettable. Getting to travel around with Felissa and Michael and experience it with audiences who love this movie as much as we do has turned into something much bigger and more special than we ever imagined.”
