What does June have in store for you among the best new horror movies to stream at home? So many scary movies that one person could never watch all of them. Also, there are some new releases on streaming that you won't want to miss. But there are terrifying classics, wild independent releases, and even one or two films that, dare we say, are family-oriented horror.

Netflix has leaned into stylish movies this month, with director Yorgos Lanthimos' Academy Award-winning film, Poor Things, and director David Twohy's Pitch Black.  Netflix's new release is I Am Frankelda, a beautiful movie made entirely with stop motion animation. In it, Frankelda, a young Mexican writer, has to help a Prince from another dimension in which whatever Frankelda writes is real for the prince and his people.  I am Frankelda was written and directed by the brothers Arturo and Roy Ambriz.

Prime has one of the classics, the 1956 adaptation of Jack Finney's novel, Invasion of the Body Snatchers. While the unnerving 1978 version is a favorite of many, the first black and white film directed by Don Siegel has a chilling charm all its own. Siegel's version, which stars Kevin McCarthy, at his unhinged best, and Dana Wynter, has the small-town ambiance that Finney's book had. The final scene is one that made its mark on the genre. Two of the recent films of note on Prime in June are the horror comedy, The Blackening, and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

Shudder is really taking a bite out of June with four films premiering on the service and four watch parties. The series binge fest of one of TV's creepiest shows ever made, Tales from the Crypt, continues until the premiere of season 7 on June 12, and new episodes of The Terror: Devil in Silver will continue to drop until the final episode airs on June 11.  We weren't kidding when we said Shudder was using its teeth because filmmaker Julia Ducournau's bloody body horror movie Raw, Aimee Kuge's tale of sexuality, revenge, and lots of food, Cannibal Mukbang, 30 Days of Night, Bram Stoker's Dracula, and the hilarious and gory vampire western, John Carpenter's Vampires, are all part of their roster in June.

While the John Carpenter film was not well-received when it was released,  it has many great qualities, not the least of which is the heartbreaking and feral performance by Sheryl Lee. Lee has been praised for her work as Laura Palmer in Twin Peaks, and deservedly so, but she is also amazing in this film. Also, Shudder has brought the New French Extremity film, Baise-Moi, which is a French imperative mood or command phrase that a family website like Fango cannot translate. Baise-Moi contains explicit sex and graphic violence that even outraged the French and got tons of media coverage upon its release, debating whether the film, directed by Virginie Despentes and Coralie Trinh Thi, had artistic merit due to the graphic nature of the film.

Another 2026 movie that premieres this month is Undertone, which will be available on June 26. This Canadian film was released by A24 earlier this year and uses its sound design to scare the bejesus out of the audience. In it, podcasters get more than they ever bargained for when they discover something terrifying in a recording of a couple who experienced paranormal phenomena based on sound. HBO Max goes for the terror in everyday life with its other selections, Contagion, an all too real film about a worldwide pandemic from Steven Soderbergh, and Ari Aster's second film, Midsommar, of a sunny yet emotionally devastating break-up.

Do not worry if you were thinking there weren't enough scary movies on this list yet; Screambox has a grand total of 49 new movies to its service in June. It's quite a few for you to check out, and among them are Yoshihiro Nishimura's wild Tokyo Gore Police, which is described as being gruesome, as well as perverse and bizarre, XXX-Mas, a Christmas-themed slasher on the set of an adult film starring Felissa Rose; Bloody Chainsaw Girl, about a student with a giant chainsaw who has trouble killing zombies, and Razor Blade Smile, about a vampire contract killer.

Do you need a spectacular body horror comedy that stars two Academy Award winners and one of the most beautiful women to ever grace this planet? Do you need a hilarious horror comedy about killer piranha invading the bodies of water in the U.S., directed by Joe Dante and written by John Sayles? Of course you do! It is especially important to watch the former movie if you have never seen it, because Death Becomes Her is probably the bloodiest, most stomach-puncturing movie that either Meryl Streep or Goldie Hawn will ever star in. Piranha, the second film, also stars Kevin McCarthy and Barbara Steele. Barbara Steele still has it, because just a close-up of her intense face is worth a whole lake full of predator fish.  If you agree, Paramount+ has got the goods just for you.

Peacock is strutting its stuff with nine films that are new to the streamer this month. There are three Jurassic Park movies, two films from the Chucky series, including one of the most romantic in the series, a brilliant feminist horror comedy directed by Karen Kusama, a zombie apocalypse favorite starring Milla Jovovich, and a kick-butt pair of leather boots. There are tons of cinematic style to be seen in Peacock's choices for June.

Have we mentioned Osgood Perkins in this list? No? Okay, it's time.  Hulu has the streaming premiere of filmmaker Osgood Perkins' second film from 2025, Keeper, on June 5. The folk horror film stars Tatiana Maslany and Rossif Sutherland and has been called surreal and sensational. If you missed it, now's the time to catch up. Equally as fab is the addition of Tina Romero's heartwarming and gut-munching LGBTQ+ zombie bonanza, Queens of the Dead, which will hit Hulu on June 26. The daughter of George Romero makes the zombie apocalypse her own with a New York City flair in the film.

Bloodstream, a fairly new service to the game that has both free and paid levels available to horror fans, takes the crown for June 2026 with 78 new scary movies. That's \ real dedication to fright considering we are about to roll into the brightest and sunniest time of the year. Their selections are probably most appealing to the adventurous horror connoisseur, since they have more independent and low-budget offerings.  Curiously, they have a series of movies that is based on a Seinfeld joke about this author's name. Yes, Mulva: Zombie Ass Kicker!, uses the “name” that a forgetful Seinfeld came up with when his paramour was named Dolores.

But that's not all, Bloodstream also has movies like Strippers vs Werewolves, Sexsquatch: The Legend of Blood, no less than 12 movies with variations on the theme of killer sharks, and a documentary on the Godfather of fantasy art, Frazetta, Painting With Fire. We are one hundred percent serious about the many shark movies, with titles such as Sharks of the Corn, Virus Shark, Raiders of the Lost Shark, and Kaiju Glam Metal Shark Attack, but spoiler alert, the Kaiju Shark is more cuddly than terrifying.
