Fresh off its World Premiere at Cannes Film Festival, Hope, the alien survival-thriller from The Wailing director Na Hong-jin, already has a sequel written and ready to go. Watch the first official teaser below:

Starring Hwang Jung-min (The Wailing), Zo In-sung (Moving), Jung Ho-yeon (Squid Game), Michael Fassbender (Prometheus, The Killer), Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Green Knight), Taylor Russell (Bones and All) and Cameron Britton (Mindhunter), Hope is set in the remote village of Hope Harbor, near the heavily fortified Demilitarized Zone (DMZ):
When a tiger is suspected to have appeared and local police chief Bum-seok (Hwang) is alerted, it throws the community into chaos. What begins as a local emergency soon spirals into a deeper, more terrifying mystery, one that forces the town’s residents to confront the unknown.
Speaking at a Cannes press conference following Hope‘s Sunday premiere, Na (who also served as writer and producer on the 2021 Thai folk horror The Medium) confirmed that a sequel to Hope is already in the works:
“I think you can readily imagine this sequel. And there’s a script that’s already been done that I’d like to shoot. So if I have the opportunity, I would indeed make a sequel if possible.”
Hope is due for a wide theatrical release this fall, with NEON nabbing distribution rights to the film in North America and other English-speaking territories, and MUBI handling release in Latin America, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and Turkey
