Nick Jonas and scream queen Kathryn Newton are set to star in White Elephant, an upcoming holiday horror from Tucker & Dale vs. Evil and Clown in a Cornfield director Eli Craig.
The festive pic hails from MRC (Knives Out, Saltburn), as the first project under their partnership with Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin aka Radio Silence (Scream, Ready or Not) and Project X, dubbed RSPX, which Deadline details is “oriented around inventive and engaging horror and thriller projects.” White Elephant will reteam Newton with Radio Silence and Project X following the recently released sequel Ready or Not: Here I Come.
An official logline for White Elephant, named after the famed holiday gift exchange game, reads as follows:
Eight friends. One prize. Zero trust. Their annual festive holiday gift exchange spirals into a cutthroat game of Christmas carnage.
Craig directs from a script he wrote with JT Billings (Are You Afraid of the Dark?)
Deadline confirm that production on White Elephant began this week, with Spencer Berman, Nick Jonas, William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, James Vanderbilt, Gillett and Bettinelli-Olpin producing. Executive producers are Billings, Ryan McDonough, Amanda Drake, Newton, Scott Levine, and Chad Villella.
White Elephant will join the storied canon of festive horrors with classics like OG slasher Black Christmas and more recent additions like It's a Wonderful Knife, Terrifier 3, and last year's Silent Night, Deadly Night remake.
Look out for more on White Elephant as we get it.
