Grab your Duran Duran records and don that tiara, because 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple has locked in a Netflix US streaming date, and it's right around the corner.
The follow-up to Danny Boyle's 28 Years Later, directed by Candyman helmer Nia DaCosta, will officially hit the platform on March 31 as part of Sony Pictures' “Pay-1” window agreement with the streaming giant.
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple saw Ralph Fiennes, Alfie Williams and Jack O'Connell return to star as survivors of the Rage Virus that ravaged Britain almost three decades prior. Also written by 28 Days Later and 28 Years Later scribe Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation), the pic saw a continuation of the epic story in which Dr. Kelson (Fiennes) finds himself in a shocking new relationship – with consequences that could change the world as they know it – while Spike's (Williams) encounter with Jimmy Crystal (O'Connell) becomes a nightmare he can't escape:
In the world of The Bone Temple, the infected are no longer the greatest threat to survival – the inhumanity of the survivors can be stranger and more terrifying.
28 Days Later star Cillian Murphy executive produced the post-apocalyptic sequel, and returned to his role as Jim the bicycle courier, last seen in the game-changing 28 Days Later all the way back in 2002.
A big hit with critics and audiences alike, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple currently sits at a hugely impressive 92% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, the highest ranking entry in the 28 series. We here at Fango loved it, if you couldn't tell by our extensive coverage.
Unfortunately, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple didn't have a whole lot of success at the box office, generating $57.9 million worldwide from a $63 million budget. While Sony has officially given the greenlight to the third film in the trilogy, the poor financial reception might mean it's on shaky ground. One way we can show up for the film and help to ensure that Sony doesn't get cold feet is to give 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple a stream on Netflix. Do it for Dr. Kelson. You know he'd do it for you.
