EC Comicsโ stable of writers is continuing to grow, and this time, theyโve recruited a legend for their latest installment of all things terrifying. Oni Press has just announced that artist Rafael Albuquerque will contribute art for a story in Catacomb of Torment #8, the latest issue of their horror anthology series that hits shelves next month.ย
Albuquerque is paired with writer Rafael Scavone for โThe Wheel,โ a story where a courier is attempting to deliver a priceless Tibetan relic, only to have a date with disaster when he runs down a pedestrian and karma comes to get him. Catacomb of Torment #8 also features stories by Paul Tobin and Arjuna Susini, and Robert Menegus and Valeria Burzo, with covers by Ariel Olivetti, Tom Fowler, Chris OโHalloran, Shawn McManus, and Patricia Martรญn.

โEvery time I think about a new story, my first instinct is always the same: what would make a great episode of The Twilight Zone? Iโve always loved those short, familiar, yet deeply uncomfortable storiesโtales that linger, carrying a moral that stays with you for days,โ Albuquerque says.ย
โEC Comics did for comics exactly what The Twilight Zone did for television, evoking those dilemmas in all of us as avid readers in a way that still amazesโand hauntsโus. Being invited by such a legendary imprint to be part of one of their collections, collaborating with some of my best friends, is something truly unique, special, and beyond anything I could have imagined. What could be more appropriate?โ
Albuquerque is best known for his work co-creating and illustrating the DC series American Vampire, on which he collaborated with horror legend Stephen King and won the Eisner Award for Best New Series in 2011. Heโs also worked on titles like Blue Beetle, Batman, Wolverine, and Prodigy, as well as the Oni Press series Mondo Urbano in 2010.ย
Catacomb of Torment #8 hits shelves on February 18. Check out an exclusive preview down below:
