The V/H/S series gets its ninth installment this scary season, and this time things are getting musical.
Hitting Shudder on October 9 2026, V/H/S/MIXTAPE will feature new segments from a new batch of filmmakers, all centred by a theme that explores the power of music, rhythm, and audio to haunt, possess, and destroy.
Taking the directorial reigns this time round are legendary filmmaker Ernest Dickerson (Tales from the Crypt Presents: Demon Knight, Bones), hip-hop icon RZA (One Spoon of Chocolate), visionary director David Moreau (Ils, Mads), and acclaimed filmmaker Renee Zhan, whose segment includes original puppets by Jim Henson's Creature Shop.
V/H/S/MIXTAPE also features original music video interludes directed by musician and V/H/S veteran Flying Lotus (Ozzy's Dungeon, Ash) , alongside a brand-new music video from debut filmmaker Tobias Forge, with legendary shock-metal pioneers GWAR also joining in the fun, further cementing the film's celebration of horror, music, and cult cinema.
V/H/S/MIXTAPE will be the latest in the long-running found footage series following last year's V/H/S/HALLOWEEN, which included segments from Bryan M. Ferguson (Pumpkin Guts) Casper Kelly (Too Many Cooks, Adult Swim Yule Log), Micheline Pitt-Norman & R.H. Norman (Cosmetic), Alex Ross Perry (Her Smell, Queen of Earth), Paco Plaza (REC, Verónica) and Anna Zlokovic (Appendage). Past contributors to the film franchise have included Ti West, David Bruckner, Scott Derrickson, Gigi Saul Guerrero, Chloe Okuno, Timo Tjahjanto, Natasha Kermani, and Adam Wingard to name but a small few.
Producers for the ninth installment of V/H/S include Josh Goldbloom, Steven Schneider, Roy Lee, Michael Schreiber, Brad Miska, and executive producers Ben Ross and Rami Yassin.
