Previously described by Matt and Ross Duffer as “the show [they'd] been dreaming of“, The Boroughs stars Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Denis O’Hare, Clarke Peters and Bill Pullman as a retirement community who uncover a dark secret after a grieving newcomer (Molina) joins their midst. Molina plays Sam Cooper, who is experiencing something of an existential crisis after recently losing his wife.

Also starring are Jena Malone, Carlos Mirand, Seth Numrich, Alice Kremelberg, Rafael Casal, Ed Begley Jr., Jane Kaczmarek, Eric Edelstein, Mousa Hussein Kraish, Beth Bailey, and scream queen Dee Wallace (Cujo, Critters, Halloween).

The 8-part series includes episodes directed by Ben Taylor (Sex Education), Augustine Frizzell (Euphoria) and Kyle Patrick Alvarez (The Stanford Prison Experiment).

Following the end of Stranger Things late last year, the Duffers have been keeping busy. Aside from The Boroughs, the pair also served as executive producers on the currently-streaming Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, Haley Z. Boston's wedding horror series, as well as Tales from '85, the animated Stranger Things spinoff that very quickly secured a second season.

The Boroughs hits Netflix on May 21.
