With Drew Hancock now firmly in the middle of making his follow-up to Companion, its cast continues to grow. Lee Cronin’s The Mummy star Jack Reynor is the latest to join Seasons, Hancock’s adaptation of a viral short story, alongside Lily James.

Formerly known as My Wife and I Bought a Ranch, the new film began life as a viral post on the subreddit r/nosleep, a place for writers to post short horror stories, written by Matt and Harrison Query. The story was eventually adapted into a full length novel, and is now hitting the big screen, with Hancock directing from his own script. Per Deadline, the film’s description is as follows:

Seasons follows a husband and wife who buy their dream ranch, only to discover the land is alive with ancient spirits, and survival means submitting to increasingly disturbing rituals with each turn of the season.

Seasons is produced by Shawn Levy and Dan Levine for 21 Laps, Jason Blum and Michael Clear for Atomic Monster, Scott Glassgold for 12:01 Films, and Dan Cohen. The film is the third collaboration between 21 Laps and Atomic Monster, who produced the recent hit Backrooms, also based on a viral Internet story. (Are Reddit posts the new book-to-movie adaptations? Maybe so.)

Reynor’s most recent horror credit is The Mummy, though he’s also known for his appearance in Ari Aster’s beloved Midsommar. This year, he also starred in Power Ballad alongside Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas, and is set to star in Gareth Evans’ new action film A Colt Is My Passport

No release date has been announced for Seasons. Stay tuned to FANGORIA for more updates.
