Netflixโ€™s live-action Scooby-Doo series has found one of its key players. Variety reports that scream queen and Ghostbusters star McKenna Grace has joined the series to play Daphne Blake, the redheaded fashionista whoโ€™s oftentimes smarter than she looks.ย

Grace is the first cast member to be announced for the series since it was picked up for eight episodes by Netflix, back in March of 2025. The series serves as a โ€œmodern reimaginingโ€ of the popular cartoon, with the showโ€™s official logline reading as follows:ย

During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne (Grace) get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder. Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.

This isnโ€™t the first time Grace has played Daphne, either. She voiced a younger version of the character in Warner Bros.โ€™ animated film Scoob! in 2020, one of many โ€œyoung versions of Xโ€ characters sheโ€™s played over the course of her career. And it definitely isnโ€™t her first time stepping into a horror project, with the young actress racking up credits in films like Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, and Five Nights at Freddyโ€™s 2.

The live-action Scooby-Doo series will be helmed by writers/showrunners Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg. Executive producers include Andrรฉ Nemec, Jeff Pinkner. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman. This is, obviously, the latest in a long line of live-action versions of the famous cartoon, a list that most notably includes two films starring Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, and Linda Cardellini. Maybe we can hope for some cameos?ย
