With its release date right around the corner, Capcom has revealed a new trailer forย Resident Evil Requiem at today's PlayStation State of Play event that confirms some sinister new plot details.

Launching on February 27, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, Resident Evil Requiemย is set 30 years after a missile strike destroys Raccoon City, and follows both investigate reporter Grace Ashcroft, daughter ofย Resident Evil Outbreakโ€˜s Alyssa Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy, franchise favorite and star of Resident Evil 2, 4 and more.

The ninth title in the mainline Resident Evil series is directed by Koshi Nakanishi, who also helmed the utterly terrifying Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, confirming Requiemโ€˜s return to pure survival horror when you play as Grace, with a more action-oriented gameplay style for Leon. In a first for the series, in Resident Evil Requiem, players are able to shift, at any point in the game, between first and third-person perspective, so you can decide how close you want to come to the game's terrifying new stalker enemy.

Today's new trailer showcases more ofย Requiem‘s gameplay from Leon's perspective, with all the roundhouse kicking we could've hoped for from his return. However, it looks like the series golden boy is also in a dire spot of trouble this time around, with the trailer showing he seems to have succumbed to whatever viral monstrosity is in store this time.

We can't imagine he'll be alone though – we've already speculated on which other characters we'd love to see return forย Resident Evil Requiem, and today's new trailer shows the back of a very familiar blonde head (Sherry Birkin, perhaps?)

Check out the new trailer forย Resident Evil Requiem below, and for more, here's all the other horror video games we're excited for still to come in 2026.
