With the game now available on platforms everywhere, Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 has revealed its last secret: an unexpected crossover with Resident Evil! The new chapter features the voice of Nicole Tompkins, best known for voicing Jill Valentine in the Resident Evil games, as Lily Lovebraids, a terrifying new creation players will encounter inside Playtime Co.
As players descend deeper into the bowels of the former toy factory, they’ll run into Lily, an “obsessive and dangerously unstable presence” whose devotion to the things she loves makes her both compelling as a potential ally and terrifying as an even bigger threat.
“Taking on Lily was such a fun descent into optimistic delusion,” said Tompkins. “Fueled by her desire for companionship, Lily has lost it, but she still really hopes you’ll join her for tea. A cat owner and tea lover? Sign me up.”
Originally released in 2021, the puzzle survival game allows players to step into the abandoned factory of Playtime Co., where monstrous, malicious toys are out for blood against everyone they encounter — including you. Three additional chapters were released in 2022, 2024, and 2025 respectively, with a film adaptation currently in development from Legendary Entertainment. Subtitled “Broken Things,” Chapter 5’s synopsis is as follows:
In Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 — “Broken Things,” players must prepare to face off against the deadly puppetmaster behind the horrifying events of Playtime Co’s dark past. Solve devious puzzles and overcome dangerous obstacles as the true rotten heart at the center of Playtime Co. draws nearer. Traverse this new realm of shadows in a fight for survival (and the truth) with Playtime’s security system, Huggy Wuggy, in hot pursuit and separated from your only allies. Will you finally end this nightmare, or fall victim to the puppet master’s twisted madness?
Players will be able to solve various puzzles as they traverse the stomping grounds of The Prototype, a terrifying experiment capable of god knows what. They’ll also encounter tortured denizens of the factory living in the darkness, who may or may not be able to help in the quest to defeat The Prototype, and deal with dangerous new environmental obstacles keeping them from the center of the factory and Playtime’s greatest sins.
Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 is available on PC now, with console versions rolling out later this year.
