We got The Lost Boys on Broadway, now it’s time to bring another horror staple to the stage. Deadline reports that the stage adaptation of the found-footage (or should we say found footlights?) horror classic Paranormal Activity will be coming to Broadway this summer, after sold-out runs in London, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington D.C.

The stage version of Paranormal Activity will play at the August Wilson Theatre for a limited 20-week engagement, beginning previews on August 14 before officially opening on September 15. Casting has yet to be announced for this version of the show, written by Levi Holloway and directed by Felix Barrett as an original entry in the popular franchise. The show’s synopsis is as follows:

James and Lou move from Chicago to London to escape their past, but they soon discover that places aren’t haunted, people are… With an original story inspired by the film franchise, Paranormal Activity reimagines the modern ghost story with an intimacy that only live theatre can provide.

“That Paranormal Activity has earned the chance to trouble the sleep of Broadway audiences, that they’ll be immersed in the waking nightmare we’ve had the privilege to make, is the stuff of dreams,” said Holloway. “I offer it’s unlike anything else on the American stage right now; a work of horror, heart and absolute mischief borne from one of the most profound collaborations of my career.”

Originally premiering in Leeds before it opened on the West End, the show will also have an out-of-town tryout in Boston in July, for those audiences who can’t catch the full production in New York. (This is common for Broadway-destined shows, just to work out the kinks before it hits the Great White Way.) Jason Blum joins as producer for this iteration of the show, alongside Simon Friend, Hanna Osmolska, Ken Davenport, Michael Ngo, David Thomas Tao, and Robina Riccitiello.

Paranormal Activity on stage will feature scenic and costume design by Fly David, lighting design by Anna Watson, sound design by Gareth Fry, video and projection design by Luke Halls, and illusions design by Chris Fisher, who also worked on the Stranger Things play The First Shadow.

Tickets for Paranormal Activity on Broadway are available now via the show’s website.
