Panic Fest returns for another thrill-inducing edition next month in Kansas City, and its first wave of films for 2026 is finally here. FANGORIA is excited to reveal exactly what fans can expect when the party begins in April, and with over fifty feature films and eighty shorts playing during the week-long festival, there’s something to terrify everyone.
The festival kicks off on April 9 with a high-profile lineup that includes Curry Barker’s Obsession, The Furious, Spider One’s Big Baby, Saccharine, and Hokum, the latest from Oddity director Damian McCarthy. This year’s festival will also be host to numerous world premieres, including for The Voices of Our Mother, Don’t Sleep Alone, Demonetize, and Ivan.
“Horror has always reflected the world back at us,” says co-founder Tim KC Canton. “Sometimes uglier, sometimes stranger, and always beautifully unhinged. We continue to embrace that chaos with our 2026 slate of films. We’re proud to give a stage to filmmakers that shock, provoke, terrify, and occasionally make you laugh at the darkness by bringing the most fearless voices in the genre to Kansas City.”
Rebecca Howard and Suitable Flesh director Joe Lynch will once again be hosting a Mystery Movie screen at Panic Fest this year, as well as recording a live episode of their podcast A Couple of Old Fashioneds. Attendees will also be treated to ten unique shorts blocks, both in-person and online, and in-person attendees can relax between screenings at the Rewind Video and Dive Bar, a full-service, ‘90s-inspired bar with board games, retro gaming systems, and shelves on shelves of VHS tapes.
“Every year an inadvertent theme seems to emerge in the films we select, but this year has the widest variety of subjects, presentations and genres that we’ve ever shown,” says festival director Adam Roberts. “We have traditional horror offerings next to some of the weirdest, funniest, goriest films we’ve ever had to offer.”

The Burning of Broken Beak
