Originally based in Europe, Haunted House FearFest Film Festival was established five years ago. Over the years, it has screened such films as, Wicken (Directed by Faisal Hashmi), Puppet Killer (Starring Aleks Paunovic, Lee Majdoub, Lisa Durupt and Richard Harmon) and The Stairs (Directed by Peter “Drago” Tiemann). Owner and Executive Director of Haunted House FearFest Film Festival Renee Huff says the aim is to provide "a platform for diverse filmmakers and game developers from around the world to showcase their work for well-crafted horror and its sub-genres, including psychological, giallo, gore, monsters, slasher, zombie and experimental - that will have you glancing over your shoulder until the very end." Stepping into the role for the first time this year, Huff is looking to grow the fest in new ways. This year's festival will take place October 5-8 in New York City. Take a look below for more from Huff.

As a lover of horror films, I’d been aware of the festival. So, when I learned the founder was stepping down, I saw it as an opportunity to not only take over the existing festival, but also grow it in line with my creative vision and goals.

It showed up at a crucial time in my life, as I was building Looks Creepy Cool Studios, a startup media company aimed at providing a global platform for women and minorities to create elevated content within the horror, thriller, true crime, sci-fi, fantasy fiction genres in the film, television, audio and video game industries. We handle everything from marketing, distribution and production.

It's my hope that the festival and media company will work together to not only showcase a filmmaker’s and game developer’s content to a wider audience, but also negotiate and secure distribution deals for any films and/or video games that I want to get behind.

The festival is open to both filmmakers and game developers. Submit your film by visiting the festival website or via their filmfreeway page.
