Just because summer’s over doesn’t mean that festival season is! FANGORIA is excited to partner with HorrorFest International Film Festival to reveal this year’s lineup ahead of the event arriving in Utah next month.
Opening the festival is Raymond Creamer’s Goody Goody, while the Japanese horror film Never After Dark will close the event on September 19. Other feature films on this year’s lineup include Lily’s Ritual and Debone, while short films like The Sentry, Open Mic, and What We Leave Behind fill out the rest of the schedule.
“We couldn’t be any more thrilled about this year’s lineup,” says HorrorFest’s Adam Mast. “Not only are several countries well-represented but our slate also offers many different shades of horror and that’s exciting to us in a big way. We greatly look forward to giving our visiting filmmakers and horror-loving attendees a festival they will never forget.”
They’ll also be celebrating plenty of horror classics, including thirtieth anniversary screenings of Michael Dougherty’s short film Seasons Greetings and the underrated Peter Jackson film The Frighteners. A throwback screening of Poltergeist is also a part of the lineup, as well as a mystery ‘80s film that won’t be revealed until it begins.
Along with an expansive lineup of films, HorrorFest also offers a range of special events and panels. This year’s group includes a conversation with screenwriter Chris Thomas Devlin, a panel featuring the creative team behind Universal Horror Unleashed, a horror trivia competition, and special after parties.
“This year’s lineup represents exactly what we love about HorrorFest International,” says HorrorFest’s John Pugh. “Creative and innovative films from around the world, including bold storytellers from right here in Utah, and of course the new voices we are lucky enough to discover along the way. Our lineup offers something different for everyone. There’s so many fun experiences this year and it will be one for the books.”
HorrorFest International Film Festival runs from September 16-19 in St. George, Utah. All-access badges are available now on their website, with day passes and single film tickets going on sale next month.
