Ever since Netflix and Guillermo del Toro announced they were joining forces on a brand-new horror anthology series called Cabinet of Curiosities, we’ve been foaming at the mouth to learn more. How could we not? We love horror anthologies around here, and besides: Del Toro’s one of the best to ever do it. You just know that if that dude’s curating a list of his favorite horror filmmakers to bring this project to life, he’s gonna be bringing some serious star power to the table.

Boy, did he ever.

This is the very first trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, all of which will arrive on Netflix in October, just in time for Halloween. As you can see above, the show appears to be of top-shelf quality, matched by an absolute murderer’s row of horror filmmakers whose work we’ve enjoyed over the years.

Here’s a full list of names (and what you might know them from!), just in case you were too hypnotized by that trailer’s imagery to spot them all:

David Prior (The Empty Man)

Ana Lily Amirpour (The Bad Batch, Castle Rock)

Panos Cosmatos (Mandy, Beyond the Black Rainbow)

Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight)

Guillermo Navarro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Cronos)

Keith Thomas (The Vigil)

Vincenzo Natali (Cube, Splice, The Stand)

Jennifer Kent (The Babadook)

Interestingly, Netflix’s Twitter account tells us that Cabinet of Curiosities will feature eight different stories spread across four evenings of double features, with the first pair arriving on October 25th. This will come as unfortunate news to those who like to mainline an entire series the moment it becomes available, but will be good news for those of us who like … well, at least a little bit of time to savor each episode before moving on to the next. What we’re looking at is basically the middle ground between “all at once” and “weekly,” and we’re into it!

We’ll surely be learning a bit more about this one in between now and its arrival at the end of October, so stay tuned for further updates as they roll in.
