Over two years since its release in 2024, psychological indie horror game Mouthwashing is finally coming to consoles, with a PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch release planned for October 29.

A physical edition of Mouthwashing for the PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 is also planned via Fangamer, something you might wanna snap up quick should Sony be sticking with their current plans for a disc-less future.

From developers Wrong Organ and publisher Critical Reflex, the FANGORIA Chainsaw Award-nominated Mouthwashing was a huge hit with critics and fans upon release, and for good reason.

Inspired by terrifying sci-fi horrors like Alien, Event Horizon, Sunshine, and The Thing, the low-poly, first person Mouthwashing puts players through the psychological ringer as a crew member of the spaceship Tulpar, stranded in space after a mysterious crash that may or may not have been caused by the now-mutilated captain, Curly.

As with classic survival horror games, stealth and exploration are prioritized over combat, with the most disturbing aspects of the game coming from its story.

In our ranking of the best horror video games of 2024, Mouthwashing came in 4, with George Yang praising the game's dark humor among the horror.

We also ranked Mouthwashing as one of the most deserving horror video games of a film adaptation, and after playing, you'll see why we chose Mandy director Panos Cosmatos as the man for the job.

Mouthwashing hits consoles on October 29, just in time for Halloween. Check out the new release date trailer below:
