Each film has its own charm and will appeal to folks who enjoy specific types of found footage horror, whether that's nightmarish found footage, screenlife, supernatural insanity, or something else entirely.

A Record of Sweet Murder (2014)
A RECORD OF SWEET MURDER (Credit: Nikkatsu) International horror films can be among the most ambitious you'll watch, regardless of subgenre. A Record of Sweet Murder follows young reporter So-yeon (Kim Kkot-bi) and her cameraman Tashiro (Kลji Shiraishi) as they go to meet her childhood friend, who has become a serial killer with a specific purpose.
Due to his instability, the situation grows more dire and disastrous, as So-yeon doesn't trust that the ritual Sang-joon (Yeon Je-wook) is doing is real. The premise might seem almost too chaotic, but it all comes together quite brilliantly throughout the runtime.ย
A Record of Sweet Murder offers plenty of violence, tense moments, chaos, and very emotionally charged scenes that might make a single tear fall from your eye. It's not merely a found footage film featuring several kills; the focus is primarily on whether Sang-joon is simply unstable or whether the ritual to bring back someone they loved will succeed.
Overall, if you're interested in international horror, found footage, and horror movies that leave you guessing, this is a great one to check out.ย
Godforsaken (2020)
GODFORSAKEN (Credit: Found TV) When horror movies are set in a relatively isolated area or town, shit typically hits the fan. Godforsaken follows an indie crew looking to document the strange events in a small Canadian community, only for something sinister to be brewing beneath the surface. The low budget lends to the charm of Godforsaken, not to mention the small town is the real-life hometown of one of the actors. What starts off as something that shouldn't be difficult to handle turns into a total nightmare that doesn't end well.
The film builds to the insanity that involves the entire town's population, and what the churchgoers believe is a good thing turns out to be very bad. Godforsaken makes it clear that something horrible is about to happen, but you're left to follow the characters as they choose to stay and document everything. If you find absolute mayhem entertaining, the latter chunk of the film will be a total blast, albeit stressful, thanks to its realistic style, and the ending will throw you.
The Andy Baker Tape (2021)
THE ANDY BAKER TAPE (Distributor: Terror Films) This film feels like someone took a page out of the Creep handbook, but made it a bit different. The Andy Baker Tape follows Jeff Blake (Bret Lada), who is on his way to getting his own culinary TV show, and decides to document meeting his half-brother, Andy Baker (Dustin Fontaine). Jeff realizes that everything with his brother isn't what it seems, and he might have made a grave mistake. The feeling that something isn't right with Andy is made clear early on, but Jeff gives him plenty of chances. The creepy vibes are so blatant that it'll make you uncomfortable.
Considering Jeff isn't an aggressively unlikeable character, you're not hoping for his demise in the film. Though he makes plenty of mistakes that lead to trouble at the end of the day. The brotherly chemistry between Jeff and Andy is evident, but Andy's unstable behavior and secret motives strain their connection. There's no happy ending for anyone, and Jeff's decision to meet Andy becomes his own downfall, but if you like the vibes of Creep, you'll likely enjoy this one.ย
Jeffrey's Hell (2024)
JEFFREY'S HELL (Credit: Found TV) A descent into hell can be dizzying for both the characters and the viewers. Jeffrey's Hell follows a documentary exploring the mystery of what happened to filmmaker Aaron Irons when he went to explore a cave system of the same name. What starts as a silly venture into caves that Aaron has no business entering turns into an experience that he can't turn back from. The film is basically a case of being careful what you wish for, with a healthy dose of curiosity killed the cat. It's clear that the moment Aaron goes in too deep, he's damned himself entirely.
Jeffrey's Hell is similar in experience to Outwaters in that it's a total nightmare for the main character. Many philosophical questions arise when it becomes clear what's happening to Aaron. Instead of some mysterious creature hunting and killing him before the end credits, the hell he's experiencing is literal and of his own making, in a sense. Jeffrey's Hell takes viewers on a hellish ride, it's a relatively quick watch that promises to unnerve you.ย
Demo_n (2024)
DEM_N (Credit: Terror Films) Screenlife doesn't get nearly enough appreciation amongst horror fans, especially when they're unique like this one. Dem_on follows a group of friends who gather for a video call reunion, but things go awry when Gary (Gary Francis Roche) plays a cursed video game that threatens their lives. The combination of video game antics, demons, and inescapable curses makes for a tense watch. Instead of being a copy of better-known screenlife horror films like Unfriended or Host, it adds its own spin with the video game element and its ramifications.
Demo_n offers viewers no real chance of escape, which makes the events even more terrifying. Gary's decisions control his friends' fates, adding emotional weight to his character. The film doesn't start off heavy, but it gradually builds to it, and all the laughs are out the window when the unthinkable happens. Everyone's outcome depends on whether Gary can outsmart the game and the demon who controls it. Demo_n is a worthwhile watch, and if you go into it with an open mind, you'll likely be impressed with the events that unfold.ย
