Itโs been a year and a half since Jordan Peeleโs NOPE hit theaters in summer 2022. Naturally, the filmmaker is going to return with a new film and he is indeed developing one, itโs just that the Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild strikes got in the way last year. As is always the case, Peeleโs latest film is shrouded in mystery. That hasnโt changed much but the director has finally said a little something about his fourth film – even if heโs remaining frustratingly vague.
The director behind hits Get Out and Us recently appeared on the Conan OโBrien Needs a Friend podcast. During the conversation, the former late-night TV host got Peele to talk a tiny bit about his mysterious fourth feature directorial effort. While he didnโt say anything substantive about the movie, Peele did tease that it has the potential to be his personal favorite of the bunch, if all goes well.
โThis has beenโฆobviously, itโs been an interesting year because the writerโs strike had had me in a state of listening, and thatโs where I need to be. I do feel like my next project is clear to me, and Iโm psyched that I have another film that, you know, could be my favorite movie if I make it right.โ

At this stage, Peeleโs fourth movie doesnโt have a title, any cast members attached, or even a release date. It had previously been set to arrive on Christmas Day of this year but Universal recently pulled it from that date and has yet to give it a new one. That being the case, having him say anything at all about it is worth examining. But the fact remains that Peele likes to keep his projects shrouded in mystery until the time is right. Weโre probably not going to learn much beyond casting until much closer to the eventual release date.
โI always have something Iโm working on that Iโm trying to figure out. As time goes by, the world gives me awfulness to interpret,โ Peele previously told Variety in 2022. So we can safely assume that social commentary will be a big part of his next film, just as it was in Get Out, Us and NOPE. Itโs also pretty safe to assume it will appeal to horror fans as Peele seems to enjoy playing in the genre during this point in his career.
Beyond that, Universal has every motivation to get Peele back behind the camera. Get Out is not only one of the most acclaimed movies in recent memory, but it was a smash hit as well. That paved the way for Us to be an equally big hit, while NOPE performed well against pandemic era expectations. His films have grossed $680 million worldwide against combined budgets totaling $93 million. Peele delivers the goods and audiences will surely be ready to turn up when heโs ready to show us whatโs next.
Jordan Peeleโs new movie remains without a release date but stay tuned as weโll surely be hearing more later this year.
