The folks behind The Blair Witch Project changed horror forever when they introduced the concept of found footage to the world —and now, they’re updating that idea for a new audience. FANGORIA is excited to partner with Hades Films to release the first poster and release date for The Influencer Project, a new film tackling the ever-present rise of the influencer and how the iPhone has changed found footage and the world of horror at large.
Produced by Eduardo Sánchez and Gregg Hale, the minds behind The Blair Witch Project, The Influencer Project stars Chiara King as a fictionalized version of herself, alongside Luca Storm, Mike Nybroe, Jazmine Summer, and Alexandre Willaume. The film’s synopsis is as follows:
Influencer Chiara King travels to Copenhagen with a documentary crew promising an unfiltered look behind the glamorous business of online fame. But as the cameras and her devoted fans follow her every move, someone else is watching too. When an obsessive stalker begins closing in, the documentary mutates into something far more terrifying, blurring the line between content and evidence, follower and predator, fact and fiction.

The Influencer Project is directed by Mike Nybroe, from a script he co-wrote with Lars Ap and Anders Jon Petersen. The film is also produced by Alex Hertzberg and Ahmet Zappa (son of “Valley Girl”’s own Frank Zappa) for Hades Films, with executive producers Steven Greenberg, Konstantin Othmer, Gadi Harel, and Adam Burger.
The film serves as Nybroe’s feature directorial debut, and King’s first appearance on screen in a film, excluding the content that’s racked up over a million followers for her on Instagram. But it’s not the only thing Sanchez and Hale have going on — they’re also producing a new Blair Witch film, which is set to be directed by Daniel Clark.
The Influencer Project hits theaters on October 2.
