While we’re all still pretty tired of mainstream superheroes — thanks for that, Marvel — there’s still one lurking around the corner that might be just the ticket for horror fans. Halloween Boy is here to save the day with a new compendium collecting artist Dave Baker’s self-published series Last of the Halloween Boys, and FANGORIA has an exclusive preview ahead of its release next month.

The 248-page partial color compendium collects issues one through five of Last of the Halloween Boys series, which Baker both wrote and illustrated himself. The series’ synopsis is as follows:

Working as an archaeologist-for-hire, magical ghost hunter, and super-scientist explorer, Halloween Boy has a simple mission: help those who cannot help themselves. From routine artifact rescues gone wrong to helping the surviving members of an ancient religion enact a cosmic funeral dirge, Halloween Boy finds himself operating as the patron saint of the impossible. And yet, just how long can he win in this never-ending battle before things spiral out of control? When will the dark secrets of the Demon Who Lives finally rear their ugly heads? Find out in the pages of this thrilling compendium!

Halloween Boy is just the latest in a long line of original works from Baker, who’s also produced titles like Forest Hill Bootleg Society, Mary Tyler MooreHawk, Punk’n Heads, and Action Hospital. The Eisner-nominated writer and artist has also worked on franchise titles like Star Trek, Godzilla, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, along with co-writing the film Alien Warfare

Halloween Boy: Last of the Halloween Boys hits shelves on May 27, retailing for $29.99 USD. Check out an exclusive preview below:
