At long last, the American 4K, Blu-ray and DVD release date for Godzilla Minus One has been revealed. Director Takashi Yamazakiโ€™s Oscar-winning modern kaiju masterpiece is indeed finally getting a physical media release a full year after it hit theaters in 2023. That may sound like a long time by our current โ€œmovies are streaming a few weeks after they hit theatersโ€ landscape but this is certainly a better late than never situation. Bust out those wallets and mark your calendars because the movie arrives on disc beginning November 19.

Godzilla Minus One is currently available to pre-order on Amazon on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD. Amazon does not have the steelbook version, which was revealed when the home video edition was first announced. In any event, that version will arrive at other retailers on the same date. We also have the cover art for the American disc release, which you can check out below. As of this writing, a full list of special features has not been revealed.

As far as pricing goes, the 4K is listed for $49.98, the Blu-ray for $33.49 and the DVD for $19.96. These prices often fluctuate a bit in the lead up to the actual release. The biggest bit of bad news here is that the black and white Minus Color version of the film is not included on these releases. It is streaming on Netflix, where the film has been available in both forms for several weeks. But for many collectors, that is a bummer.

The Minus Color version is available as part of the Japanese collectorโ€™s edition, but that goes for $65 and has some drawbacks as well, such as the fourth disc of special features not being subtitled in English. There are, unfortunately, no perfect options at the moment but it is still very good that this movie is getting a physical release in North America. Thatโ€™s far from a guarantee these days and this is a movie that absolutely deserves a spot on oneโ€™s shelf.

Yamazaki managed to completely reinvent the franchise with his bold, dark film set in the aftermath of World War II. It went onto become a huge hit at the box office, sweep Japanโ€™s Academy Awards and become the first Godzilla movie ever to win an Oscar, earning a prize for its outstanding visual effects.
