Are you missing Fantastic Fest, or just looking for your freaky genre fix? Never fear, Alamo Drafthouse is bringing the spirit of everyone’s favorite festival to the east coast this spring! The theater chain has announced that they’re bringing Fantastic Best, a weekend full of fest favorites, to their Downtown Brooklyn location this month for three days only.
The festival, which runs March 27 to 29, features eight films and an exclusive shorts program, full of titles from Fantastic Fests past, as well as a few films that didn’t quite make the lineup the first time around. Friday features films like The Serpent’s Skin and Decorado, while the rest of the weekend bears gems like Disforia, Before the Fall, Uncle Peckerhead, and The Restoration at Grayson Manor.
Several of the screenings will also include post-show cast and crew Q&As, featuring filmmakers like Alice Maio Mackey, Glenn McQuaid, and Gideon Aroni. Plus, the Fango fam is getting together for a special event on Saturday night at the House of Wax, Drafthouse’s macabre theater bar, with members of the FANGORIA team, as well as folks from Fantastic Fest and the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival. Fantastic Best arrives just as badges for Fantastic Fest proper go on sale, ahead of its eight-day run at the South Lamar Drafthouse location in Austin, Texas. This year’s festival runs from September 17-24, promising 8 days of cinematic mayhem, spanning the best in horror, action, sci-fi, and fantasy films. This year’s lineup has yet to be announced, but last year’s fest featured titles like Primate, Mother of Flies, V/H/S/Halloween, Black Phone 2, and Obsession, so there’s no doubt whatever they serve up this year will be just as twisted.
