Fantasia International Film Festival turns thirty this year, and it’s bringing an exciting lineup of films to audiences to celebrate. The festival, which takes place from July 16 to August 2 in Montreal, just announced the first wave of titles featured at this year’s event, with some highly anticipated sequels and exciting debuts in the mix.
The biggest title in this first wave is The Last Temptation of Becky, the horror threequel starring Lulu Wilson as a teenager taking down neo-nazis, directed by Jenn Wexler. Also starring Neil Patrick Harris, the film will have its world premiere at Fantasia before hitting theaters via Quiver Distribution sometime this summer. It joins Kasper Kalle’s new film No Rest for the Wicked, a Danish vampire film adapted from the 1884 novel Manor, starring Pilou Asbæk and Egor Venned.

Also on the docket is The Eyes, a Korean remake of the Spanish thriller Julia’s Eyes, as well as director Casey Walker’s sci-fi horror Home Bodies, Harrison Atkins’ sophomore film Sour Minnows, the darkly comic film Anymart, the holiday horror Unholy Night, and Ferine, featuring Oddity star Carolyn Bracken. Documentaries are few and far between in this first wave, but among the many international titles is Rubberhead: The Life & Monsters of Steve Johnson, about the special effects artist known for his work with directors like John Carpenter, Sam Raimi, and Guillermo del Toro.
But the lineup doesn’t stop there. Akira Nagai brings his adaptation of Katsuhiro Go’s novel Suzuki=Bakudan to Fantasia, alongside Sleep No More, fresh off its Berlinale premiere, the action-comedy Break Free, Ancestral Beasts, Captured!, and the inspired-by-a-true-story Tight Lettuce.
The 30th annual Fantasia Festival runs from July 16 to August 2. For more information on the full lineup and to purchase tickets, you can check out their website.
