Four years after the original film hit theaters, the sequel to Fall is arriving this…well, fall, and we now have a new look at the next installment in the survival thriller series. Lionsgate has released a new trailer for Fall 2: Deadpoint, which takes stars Arsema Thomas and Harriet Slater all the way to Thailand for another death-defying climbing adventure.
The upcoming sequel is directed by Jigsaw and Predestination helmers Michael and Peter Spierig, with original Fall writer-director Scott Mann co-writing the script with Jonathan Frank. The film, the first of two sequels greenlit by Capstone Studios after the success of Fall, is produced by Mark Lane and James Harris of Tea Shop Productions, Capstone’s Christian Mercuri, David Haring, and Mann via the Flawless banner. Executive producers include Dan Asma, John Long, Roman Viaris, Capstone’s Ruzanna Kegeyan. The film’s synopsis is as follows:
Overwhelmed by her sister Hunter’s death, Jax (Slater) connects with Luce (Thomas), Hunter’s fearless friend. To heal, they attempt the infamous plank walk of Mount Kwan in Thailand. After a sudden rockslide leaves them stranded on a fragile plank 3000 feet in the air, Jax must confront her deepest fears and fight for survival to find closure.
The original Fall was a smash hit both critically and commercially, earning over $20 million at the global box office on a budget of only $3 million. Original writer-director Mann is set to return behind the camera to both direct and pen the third installment of the franchise.
“We were huge fans of the first film and couldn't wait to continue the journey,” said The Spierig Brothers when the film was first announced. “Our aim was to capture the same intensity that Scott Mann and his team established in the original, while adding new, layered characters who will connect with audiences as they endure extreme and terrifying heights.”
Fall 2: Deadpoint hits theaters on September 2.
