It’s got its own Halloween Horror Nights house, so it seems appropriate that Evil Dead Burn is finally coming home to streaming in October. HBO Max confirmed that the latest installment in the beloved franchise will arrive on the streamer early next month, after a linear premiere on HBO.
Directed by Sébastien Vaniček from a script he wrote with Florent Bernard, Evil Dead Burn stars Souheila Yacoub, Tandi Wright, and Hunter Doohan, and saw significant success in theaters, as the latest in the revived Evil Dead series that features fewer jokes and far more gore than Sam Raimi’s original trilogy. The film’s synopsis is as follows:
After the loss of her husband, a woman seeks solace with her in-laws in their secluded family home. As one by one they are transformed into Deadites—turning the gathering into a family reunion from hell—she comes to discover that the vows she took in life… live on even in death.
Evil Dead Burn will premiere on HBO as a part of a special triple feature, following Fede Álvarez’s Evil Dead from 2013, and 2023’s Evil Dead Rise. The film is produced by franchise creator Raimi and original star Bruce Campbell, alongside Rob Tapert, Lee Cronin, Sarah Spurway, Romel Adam, and Jose Cañas.
But that’s not the only thing in store for Sam Raimi’s beloved franchise. Another installment, this one titled Evil Dead Wrath, is being directed by Francis Galluppi, and hits theaters on April 7, 2028. We have a scarce few details about that film at the moment, but if one thing’s clear, it’s this: the Deadites aren’t going anywhere any time soon.
Evil Dead Burn premieres on October 3 at 8PM ET on HBO before arriving on HBO Max.
